Sanyo split systems sold in Australia used a mix of refrigerants depending on age — older units (roughly pre-2010) commonly used R22, which is now banned from import and local manufacture in Australia as part of the phase-out of ozone-depleting HCFCs, making stock scarce and repairs involving a full refrigerant recharge increasingly costly. Later-model Sanyo units may use R410A.
